Nos Quieren Bailar!

For the first time in my life, I made a connection to the masterpiece: Selena.

On Friday night I spontaneously decided I was going to go watch Fools Gold at the Rickshaw Stop. I was extremely late and was scared I was gonna miss the band entirely. Luckily (or not) only one opener had played.

Now if you folks don't know about Fools Gold let me tell you, they are one party of a band. In all honesty I had never danced as much as I had than at this Fools Gold show. My feet were bruised and my legs were sore god damn it!

Now this band was all kicks and karate chops but let me tell you, I feel real bad for the openers. The band from the photo above was a good band but they had no chance next to Fools Gold.

You see, they were a doo wap type. In short I could describe their performance to the opening scenes of Selena when her dad was trying to play Blue Moon to the mexicans at the dance club and they were chanting nos quieren bailar! repeatedly while they threw stuff at them. While there was no throwing of things you could definitely feel the crowds vibe. For Christs sake a small group had already started dancing before the band even entered the stage to the Fools Gold playing before the show.

And oh boy when they did come on...

Fools Gold with their number one fan (0n the very left), no seriously this guy got the entire crowd to huddle on the ground. At one point his shirt was off and he was bowing to Fools Gold. He was also the most legit dancer in the room. That's saying a lot cause there was a whole lot of dancing and dance moves goin' on.

Fools Gold jumping in the crowd

Bassist Luke Top and other Fools Gold members (who you can't really see) being engulfed by the crowd.

Highlight of the night: Being able to belt it out cause Luke gave me the mike at one point. SAWEEEET!!!!!

Check out Fools Gold if you haven't! Its a real crime if you haven't.
