Its been awhile but you don't really care. Check this band PENS out. They broke up but they have a damn good full length called Hey friend, what you doing? and a 7 inch with some great fucking songs.

This is their best song in my humble opinion. I know I know the whole grrrrllllll rawk and lo-fi is getting a little out of hand what with such huge masses of them being pumped out by the month. Yet PENS is something different. They have found that perfect balance. They don't relax/put you to sleep (Vivian Girls) nor are they whiny and bitchy like other girl bands. It's simple, raw and full of energy. It's refreshing to see girls like this, they have songs full emotion and energy but they don't need to put on a mask of femininity and meekness (anyone else notice Zooey Deschanel carbon copies?). They to have basic love songs with yearning (check out I Heart U) but they don't sound like the idiot female.
In the end some people might call this noise, I call it absolute brilliance.
